Did Eating Burger King Really Help Robert Downey Jr Beat His Addiction to Drugs?

Question by Kapncrunch: Did eating burger king really help Robert Downey Jr beat his addiction to drugs?
I read somewhere that at one time in Robert Downey Jr’s life, that he was addicted to durgs but one day when he’d had a burger from Burger King, he said it was so horrible that it got him to overcome his addiction.
Is this true? And if so where did he say this. I’d really love the source to that.

I’m a major RDJ fan and have been since “the Pick-up Artist” in 1986. I’m familiar with the story about Burger King, you can find it in many articles about RDJ.

What I get from the story is this….RDJ stopped for lunch in a Burger King while driving to a friend’s wedding. During his lunch he had an epiphany that he needed to quit drugs immediately. He went outside, threw away $ 10,000 worth of cocaine and went cold turkey. He’s been clean ever since.

The location, and the lunch, were ancillary to the epiphany RDJ experienced. It would have happened no matter where he was….it was a SPIRITUAL experience, not a gastromonic experience.

You can read all of RDJ’s interviews, from the earliest days of his career up to today, by going to www.downeyunlimitedforever.com The magazine/newspaper articles are archived there.
